Our scoring methodology — transparent, structured, and independent.
Every tool in the Major Matters AI Tools Directory is reviewed independently. No vendor pays to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. Reviews are written by practitioners who have evaluated and operated these tools in production environments.
Each tool is assessed across eight weighted criteria. The overall score is a weighted average. Scores are rounded to the nearest 0.5.
How effectively does the AI perform its core function? We test claims against real-world scenarios, not vendor benchmarks.
How quickly can a technical team get the product into production? We measure time-to-value, not time-to-demo.
How well does the tool connect with existing infrastructure? API quality, webhook support, and data portability.
Does the product support your regulatory requirements out of the box? SOC 2, PCI DSS, GDPR, and jurisdiction-specific obligations.
What happens when something breaks? Response times, escalation paths, and the difference between enterprise support tiers.
How does the tool perform as transaction volumes grow? We assess architecture, not marketing claims.
Is the documentation accurate, current, and complete? Can a developer get started without calling a sales engineer?
Can you understand what the product costs before talking to sales? Hidden fees, usage tiers, and contract traps.
Green (4.0+) — Excellent. Best-in-class performance in this criterion.
Blue (3.0–3.9) — Good. Meets expectations with room for improvement.
